but if you get enough drivers together in a big enough market you can create a “union-like” entity to bargain/strike etc. It might not have legal standing to force a company to listen to it, but it can manipulate free market principals to get attention.
It’s difficult for delivery riders to do this though—there’s no central base when they gather (e.g. like a taxi stand), and no easy way for them to find out who is driving for the company. This article does a fantastic job at explaining why.
